SLASHERS
What’s your favorite scary movie?
Thom has had the honor and privilege of working with numerous iconic slasher killers over his career: most famously even portraying a Ghostface killer onscreen in SCREAM VI. As an editor Thom has also worked with Chucky (or Charles Lee Ray as his friends call him), Freddy Krueger, and a host of new and original killers in films like Joshua Giuliano’s RIVER, Jake Helgren’s PSYCHO STRIPPER, and Daphne Zuniga’s DEADLY ASSISTANT.
CHUCKY (SyFy/TBS)
Thom worked on all three seasons of Don Mancini’s CHUCKY. The show is a highlight of his career and had not only an incredible cast that included Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Fiona Dourif, and the voice of Brad Dourif, but also a crew filled with phenomenal directors like John Hyams and Samir Rehem, and the iconic Tony Gardner as the head of the puppeteering team. Starting as an Assistant Editor on Season 01, Thom was promoted to Editor for the following two seasons.
DYLAN’s NEW NIGHTMARE (Short Film)
Thom worked with Miko Hughes, reprising his role from WES CRAVEN’S NEW NIGHTMARE, in Cecil Laird’s non-canon sequel DYLAN’S NEW NIGHTMARE. While this is an unofficial fan film, the inclusion of Miko as both the star and producer helped this short to play festivals across the country and reach hundreds of thousands of viewers online. Dave McRae stepped into Freddy’s striped sweater and did Robert Englund proud with a new interpretation of The Springwood Slasher. Freddy is Thom’s favorite slasher-killer, and having an opportunity to edit a film in that legacy was a dream come true.
RIVER (IFC/Shudder)
Thom edited Joshua Giuliano’s directorial debut, RIVER, in the spare bedroom of his apartment. This artsy, violent, and break-neck slasher was chosen as the opening night feature of TIFF’s Midnight Madness section in 2026 and gave horror audiences a new slasher to haunt their nightmares.
Even More slashers
Thom has continued to work with new and established filmmakers to help their slasher killers come to life. While editing films like PSYCHO STRIPPER and BAD CONNECTION for Jake Helgren, and DEADLY ASSISTANT for Daphne Zuniga were fun, it would be foolish not to mention that the first film he ever worked on was as Adam Wingard’s Assistant Editor on YOU’RE NEXT. While that is more of a home invasion film than a traditional slasher, those animal-masked killers became icons in the horror scene almost immediately and helped to launch a number of careers, including Thom’s.
