FOUND FOOTAGE
Feature 1
Found Footage as a sub-genre was given new life in the 2010’s by a group of up-and-coming filmmakers who banded together to create the V/H/S anthology series. While the first film was being made, Thom was working with Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett on YOU’RE NEXT. After that project was done, Adam and Simon invited Thom to crew up on V/H/S/2, a sequel made in secret that premiered at Sundance and is largely still considered to be the best of the series. Brad Miska, the creator of the franchise, invited Thom to join the team on the non-found-footage anthology film SOUTHBOUND before relaunching the V/H/S franchise with V/H/S/94. Thom stayed with the franchise and over a 12-year-period edited segments for David Bruckner, Ernest Dickerson, Flying Lotus, Johannes Roberts, Chloe Okuno, Justin Long & Christian Long, Simon Barrett, Renee Harris & The Jim Henson Company, and Jennifer Reeder. Between V/H/S films, Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures invited Thom to edit WATCHFUL EYE, the directorial debut of Kris J. Cummins. As one of the world’s most prolific editors of found footage, Thom continues to be approached and invited to work on new and innovative projects in the sub-genre. Keep an eye out as his continued work in found footage creeps onto screens near you.
